Recombinant human NEK5 (amino acids 1-508) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag. NEK5 or NIMA (never in mitosis gene a)-related kinase 5 is a serine/threonine kinase that is involved in cell cycle regulation. NEK5 has been shown to interact with NEK6 and NEK5 are required for the ibo1/nek6 ectopic outgrowth phenotype in epidermal cells.
