The Hitachi LUCREST survey meter has a large clear LCD display which shows both digital numbers as well as a moving bar.
The LUCREST has a time constant value button on the detector grip which allows you to choose between a short time constant for quick response and a long time constant for sensitivity.
When the dose rate changes it is shown as a digital numerical value as well as a marked position on the bar graph. The square bar on the chart means that the dose rate is stable. When the value is unstable, the bar shape will change to another shape and move along the bar. This is handy when looking for dose concentrations in tissue or for a source of contamination.
